Affiliate Disclosure
A short, honest note on how Farmora Living earns money and what that means for the equipment we recommend.
The short version
Some of the links on Farmora Living are affiliate links. When you click one and go on to buy something, we receive a small commission from the retailer. It costs you nothing extra. The commission helps fund our writing, photography and hosting.
Programs we participate in
We participate in a small number of affiliate programs, including but not limited to:
- Amazon Associates (United States, United Kingdom and Canada)
- Lehman’s affiliate program (for old-style homesteading equipment)
- Selected independent garden tool manufacturers
- Privacy-respecting newsletter and software services we use ourselves
Our rules for ourselves
To keep recommendations honest, we hold ourselves to a small set of rules:
- We only link to products we have used, tested, or that one of our trusted writers owns.
- We recommend the product we would actually buy with our own money, not the highest-commission product.
- We do not write entire articles whose primary purpose is to drive affiliate sales. Equipment guides exist because readers ask about that equipment.
- We disclose affiliate links clearly. Affiliate links throughout the site are tagged with a small icon or a “affiliate” notation.
- If we no longer recommend a product, we remove the link and update the article.
Pricing
Prices and availability change. We try to keep them up to date, but you should always check the retailer’s current page before buying. We accept no liability for outdated prices.
FTC compliance
This disclosure is provided in line with United States Federal Trade Commission guidance on endorsements and testimonials. We comply with similar disclosure requirements in the United Kingdom, Canada and the European Union.
You can avoid affiliate links
If you would prefer not to support us this way, simply search for the product on your retailer of choice rather than clicking our link. We won’t know, and we won’t mind. The journal is free either way.
How we use the money
Affiliate income, modest newsletter sponsorships, and direct reader support pay for hosting, image licensing, a small editorial honorarium for contributing writers, and the occasional new tool to test honestly. Anything left over goes into commissioning more original photography from local growers.
